To help you tackle the tasks of your day and sharpen your brain for years to come, add these simple brain boosters to your early-morning routine. Brain boost basicsSo many of us are torn between juggling heavy workloads, nurturing relationships, keeping up with family responsibilities and then just barely squeezing in time for the things we enjoy as individuals. All that stress can zap our concentration, make us irritable or depressed, and harm our relationships—including the professional ones we’ve forged at work. (Here’s more on how stress really affects your brain.) “Working out areas of the brain before a full day can set us on a path of increased agility and flexibility in our thinking and enable us to communicate more calmly and effectively with our colleagues,” says Jennifer Wolkin, PhD, a New York City-based clinical neuropsychologist. Fold a mix of these simple activities into your morning routine and you’ll find yourself working smarter from the get-go. (And don’t miss these 50 secrets your brain wishes you knew.) Relax with a good readIn our fast-paced day and age, it’s hard to remember to unplug and take time for the simple things that relax and stimulate our mind. Reading is certainly one of those—be it a chapter book, newspaper, or online article. “Some of the best activities to perform are ones that enrich the brain with new information, like reading,” says Jason Liauw, MD, a neurosurgeon at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, California. “Taking in a good book or the morning paper is not only a calming way to start your day, but it also can help you reorient your priorities, taking you momentarily out of the daily grind from yesterday before today’s begins.” Most importantly, reading can also cause a frameshift in your mind, so that when you’re in the middle of your day, you may be able to look at your routine and tasks through a different lens. Get a headstart with these 18 good books you can read in a day. ExerciseWe all know important a role exercise plays in our health and mood, but there are some additional brain-boosting reasons to sneak in a sweat session before work. “Exercise actually alters brain chemistry and has even been likened to the effect of taking antidepressants,” says Dr. Wolkin. “It signals the release of several key neurotransmitters, many of which play a vital role in keeping our brain sharp as we age.” Exercise also helps pump blood flow and oxygen to the brain, allowing our grey matter to work to its highest capacity, which translates to better and sharper decision making, judgment and memory. One study that combined memory training with yoga for older adults found significant improvement in overall memory performance, suggesting that exercise helped boost the effects of brain training. Here are five more benefits to working out in the morning.

Over the past 10 years there has been a growing body of scientific evidence that a specific type of computerized cognitive training (CCT) has the potential to raise IQ significantly – namely working memory training. Commercial CCT comes in many forms. Many brain training companies divide training between different types of cognitive processing such as speed, memory, attention, and so on. In the light of all the studies done on these different types of training, it is only working memory training that has demonstrated real potential for increasing intelligence. What is working memory?Working memory can be thought of as our ‘mental workspace’. Imagine your mind as a white board that is constantly being written on, while you organize and do calculations with the material before erasing it as you shift your focus from one task to the next – that is your working memory system. More formally, working memory is a short term memory and management system that “provides temporary storage and manipulation of the information necessary for such complex cognitive tasks as language comprehension, learning, and reasoning.” Baddeley, 2003, p. 189 Individuals differ in their working memory capacity – i.e. the quantity of information they can maintain and process. Working memory capacity correlates highly with IQ.
This makes sense, as you can imagine that more intelligent people have a larger mental ‘workspace’ and are able to make relatively more connections and inferences using this spacious workspace. How neuroscientists are learning to predict emotions with increasing accuracy.Brain scans can read human emotions with 90% accuracy, a new study finds. Researchers have been able to predict the intensity of negative emotions to evocative images. They found that negative emotions have a ‘neural signature’ which a computer could learn. Dr Luke Chang, who led the study, said: “This means that brain imaging has the potential to accurately uncover how someone is feeling without knowing anything about them other than their brain activity. "Get out there!" "Dominate." "Always be closing."When we think of sales, we think of the iconic image of Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross. “Put that coffee down!” he yells at a terrified Jack Lemmon, Baldwin’s Alpha lumbering over Lemmon’s Beta male, with Donald Trump-esque predation. “You can’t close shit, you are shit,” he sums up, wearing a watch that costs more than Lemmon’s car. I call this the “fuck you” stance of sales. Like the patriarchy, the image of the salesman as an alpha male asshole is internalized into our work culture. Worse, the obnoxious, dominant salesperson can be extremely effective in communicating power. But here's the thing: What makes someone a great entrepreneur can make them a crappy person. Because we think success is about being a shark, we forget that kindness, caring, and pride in your work is one of the most powerful tools. We worry, as women, we’ll be stereotyped and our work devalued. But the gifted introvert salesperson is a secret weapon for any organization or small business. Bathroom hiders (my term for introverts, shy and socially anxious people like me,) face many common hurdles when it comes to selling a product or negotiating a deal.
But know that your wonderful empathy, plus a commitment to doing great work, make you a strong salesperson and negotiator. You just need to stop trying to be someone else. Hi guys, it has been a while since I wrote an article and today you might even become a bit annoyed by what I'm going to share (since it's not my article). However, this post has the best intention and I felt the need to expand these words.
I have been doing a lot of meditation during these last few months and I even enrolled to several of meditation sites, pretty obsessive I know... However, I have to admit this self-awarness technique has brought me, not only a lot of wisdom, but also a lot of peace; the following content may have no conection whatsoever with meditaion LOL, BUT it is indeed a self-awarness channel to aid those who struggle with clearing all the clutter within their minds. Thus, it only seems right to share with you guys any form of self-help that works for me, I mean, there's no need to be selfish right? Having that said, I will share a post from the bright mind of George Hutton, on how ot become that one person that everyone wants. The title on this post can have a very broad range of definitions and meanings. What I mean by saying 'Biohacking your body on a kinetic level' is basically getting the best out of your body with less movement. If this statement is still very vague for you, no worries, lets get very specific. 'Getting the best out of your body with less movement' could be on a productive level, biological level and aesthetic level, depending on your perception. Now-a-days the majority of populations are thriving to get healthier, so lets explain the title by saying we are going to maintain or loose certain weight by making our body burn more calories, exercising less and eating more (in a healthier way, of course) . Yes, I know the past statement sounds crazy, and one could easily say only lazy people would have such thought. Both of those assumptions may be true, however, let me elaborate the rest of the theory. When a person not only has a busy daytime schedule, but also a productive life and a sum of responsibilities, honestly the last thing one is thinking of is exercising. I could be wrong with this assumption, however I am only speaking on personal experience and what I have seen within the people that surround me. Within the scale of a productive day, on a physical level I may be a lethargic individual, I will not deny that, but the people closest to me are not LOL. Somehow my friends, family and me all manage to do a large sum of daily activities aside from working, and non-of us exercise on a daily basis. After seeing this struggle amongst my loved ones, I started analyzing their schedules, diets and extracurricular activities. I came up not only with a way how to avoid exercise on a daily basis, but also how to eat more, gain more energy and at the same time loose weight or maintain a weight. How do I know this theory works? Well I myself tested it for 21 days until I made a habit out of it. In my case, I was a little underweight for my height and bone structure. Not only did this caused a lack of daily energy but also created an unbalance on a physical and aesthetic level. Now, with this regime I've been trying, not only am I maintaining a low weight but I also have a lot more energy than I had before, therefore I will share with you guys what I did. "Less Exercising"First off you need to know the lowest levels of everything your body needs in order to function. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the amount of exercise needed for normal health is 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise per week. That is 21.5 minutes a day of moderate aerobic exercise or cardio is needed to be perfectly healthy. THAT'S ALL. Unless you are trying to meet a certain fitness goal or perhaps loose a certain amount of weight, then you'll indeed need to exercise more. So what is "moderate aerobic exercise" well this is moderate cardio with includes brisk walking, swimming, hiking or mowing the lawn. Bam! If you don't have a treadmill to walk on either go outside and walk for 40 min (to make it a moderate aerobic walk) or if you are a runner, then run for 20 minutes, its that easy. More WaterThe text above is pretty self explanatory. Your body needs two liters of water in order to function normally hence, all you need to do to properly hydrate and detox your body on a daily basis, is to drink two liters of water every day. Pretty easy. If you however have more physical activities to do on a daily basis then your daily intake of water will be more, of course. Eating All DayThis is probably my favorite part of the regime. What you need to know first is what amount of calories your body needs to properly function. According to the center of endocrinology in Mexico that is from 800 to 1200 calories a day. Meaning any less calories you intake on a daily basis could result in health consequences. If you want to get more specific according to your daily exercise, weight and height, you can visit the Mayoclinic.org calorie calculator. What this calculator will do is give you the exact amount of calories you need to intake according to your personal needs.
Now you have an exact idea of how many calories you need to maintain your weight. The next part is a little trickier, lets use my daily calorie intake as an example to plan meals. I decided to use 1,200 calories a day as my limit, so all I have to pretty much do is plan my day accordingly and/or memorize the calories of everything I eat in order to create a habit.

First off. What exactly is biohacking? I'm sure you have heard or read about this trend lately. Biohacking is the method people use to improve their full selves. Whether installing a computer chip into their bodies or simply improving their diet, biohacking is literally hacking your body to be the best you can be at anything. You may not be ready to hack your body at a technological level, however you can definitely start hacking your mind and physical levels with simply changing a or adding a few daily habits.
There was a time of my younger life, I was a recent college graduate to be exact, when I was exceptionally busy. In order to live in a decent place in Downtown LA, one has to be economically stable. I was a recent graduate with an entry level marketing assistant job, so what did I do? I took a 2nd job as a nighttime bartender. Being a full-time marketing assistant by day and a bartender by night is not an easy task! However, I managed to survive for a period of time until my body gave up. If I would have knowledge back then of these tips, I not only would've lasted longer, but I would've have escalated way faster to achieve my professional goals. Having this said, I almost feel as a duty to share with readers about these biohacking tips I've managed to incorporate to my daily life, you know for the sake of society's sanity. (totally joking with that statement BTW) MeditateWhen you are a busy college student or professional there is less time to meditate. Since this is biohacking 101 there is an easier way to meditate, that is a hack to biohack LOL. Meditation helps relieve daily stress. Health physicians usually recommend meditation to aid with anxiety. However, I fully understand that a busy individual has no time to meditate, but that is why you will mediate during your sleep. As discussed in previous posts, we produce brainwaves according to our mood and/or state of mind. Delta binaural and isochronic brainwaves are associated with deep sleep. If you don't own any meditation music with Delta Brainwaves, and feel no need to purchase them, no worries. Youtube.com has plenty of videos with all kinds of meditations. You can listen to these meditations 30 min before going to sleep and/or even fall asleep with music on. On a personal note, both methods seem to work. Coffee BreakCoffee helps accelerate your metabolism, it is also an appetite suppressant and the right coffee has plenty of antioxidants that help cleanse your system. Two cups of organic coffee in the morning will help get your day started. To improve the coffee effects try adding organic milk and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Nutrient UpgradeThe title is a no brainer. You don't need to be a scientist to realize a good diet improves your daily activities. However, I do realize this can be a hard task for some people, personally, I'm horrible at keeping a healthy diet. I love donuts, I love chocolate, I love chips, fast food and all kinds of fat, I'm only slim because God loves me, seriously. But I do make an effort to substitute what I can for a healthier choice on a daily basis. Subliminal messages have helped me alot in maintaining this kind of self-control. Any who if you can relate to me, my struggles and you consider yourself a sinful eater, then welcome to the club! Start by substituting whatever you can for a healthier choice. Let's start by adding nuts to our diet. Nuts contain protein and healthy fatty oils that will aid in your cardiac health. Almonds specifically, are natural appetite suppressants, there fore if you munch on these on a daily basis, your appetite will surely diminish. Eliminate empty carbs! If you love carbs, try substituting these for gluten free carbs, quinoa, cous cous and veggie pasta. Add some fruit as a sweetener! Fruits are abundant in antioxidants and fructose (natural sugar). A diet rich in fruits means, a lot of energy, a clear face, clear digestive system and the feeling of a full tummy. Aside from these small tips, try replacing everything else in your diet for the organic version. For example grass fed meats will definitely have less chemicals than hormone fed meats and organic veggies will be cleaner then other veggies. Lastly, water. This too is another no brainer, 2 liters of water on a daily basis will keep you cleansed and hydrated. You might to drink more water if you are an active person, or prescribed with daily medication. There are H2O brands with more mineral and electrolytes than regular water. This kind of hack will aid if you are the forgetful individual to miss his/her daily water intake. Just keep in mind you are doing this to improve your performance at work or school and you'll be good to go if that is what you truly desire. Other than that, good luck with your first biohacks and may the force be with you.
How to Study or Learn Something New 50% Faster Than You Normally Would With Brainwave Entrainment11/2/2016

Surely we all have our struggles when it comes to learning and/or studying. Some individuals tend to be visual, others lean more to the auditory side and some people are autodidact. In other words, everyone is different, which is why some students don't have acquire the highest grades they wish they would at school. On a personal note, I was one of those students at school that had average grades, however, not only did I never paid attention in class, but I also missed class, and never I was as motivated or dedicated as the other students in my class (nothing to be proud of, I'm just stating a fact). Curiously, I always exempted my foreign language classes, so why did this happen? This phenomenon happened because I learned differently as other students, I wasn't aware at the time that I was autodidact. I'm sure you might find yourself within this minority, or in other. Which is why I was motivated to search for more learning techniques different than what teachers apply in school. I came across with a cool learning method that, surprisingly is much more easier than reading and its based with auditory stimuli. This method is using brainwave entrainment. For those of you who don't know what brain entrainment is, here is a superficial explanation. Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain using a pulsing sound. What this process does is put your brain into a specific state of mind. Our brain naturally produces brainwaves depending on what state of mind we are in, however, some people may produce less brainwaves than other individuals, this phenomenon could be seen through mood changes or changes of perception. Any who, these brainwaves are Infra- low, Gamma,Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta.
Yes, that title you read is indubitably correct, it is in fact possible to control your own metabolism. However, like every new habit, there is a process to follow and preferably a 21 day regime of training, depending on each individual of course. If you have read this blog before, then you might already be aware of the fact that I love exploring the unordinary. So having that said, if you want to control your own metabolism, loose weight or simply maintain your weight by eating anything you want then keep reading. There is actually no trick, or hidden detail Im not telling you about. The only thing one needs to do in this particular case is put in some dedication. I am horrible at long term dedication, however, I found a perfect way to actually maintain a routine with this exercise.
The way you are going to train your own metabolism is through your subconscious. As mentioned in previous posts, your subconscious is a huge warehouse where everything you have learned in the past is stored, and you automatically put it to use without even noticing. So yeah, basically you will have total control of your metabolism without noticing you are doing it. I myself completed this process and its pretty amazing. Your body will simply stop eating when you feel satisfied, and you will not feel hungry until your body needs sustinents again. |
